The 2025 Class 4A State Champions Mills Comets (Boys) and De Queen Lady Leopards (Girls) share the spotlight in Issue #3 of FAB44TV Insider’s Championship Edition.

One school added to its legendary status.
The other broke a 22‑year drought.
Both earned the crown.

Mills Comets: The Rebirth

Coach Raymond Cooper returned to the top as the Comets rallied past Morrilton’s Devil Dogs in a dramatic Class 4A boys state title game. Mills trailed for most of the contest before seizing control in the final period and winning 56‑51.

Tournament MVP Zaylin Rowland scored 10 points and provided steady leadership, while underclassmen Marshall Walls (19 points) and Anthony Hester (13 points) delivered clutch performances. With the victory, Mills closed out a historic 35‑1 season.

De Queen Lady Leopards: Ending the Drought

For the first time since 2003, the Lady Leopards are back on top of Arkansas high school basketball. De Queen stunned previously unbeaten Pulaski Academy 62‑54 in the Class 4A girls final. Senior guard Shalyn Lyle earned tournament MVP honors with 11 points, seven rebounds and four assists.

Under Coach Bret Burgess, the Leopards mixed veterans and rising stars: Emma Chambers led the team with 13 points, Jessie Lyle added 12, Landri Liggin scored 11, and De Queen’s swarming defense forced 20 turnovers. The Lady Leopards finished 35‑1, giving Pulaski Academy (36‑1) its only loss and snapping a 22‑year championship drought.
