Isaiah Joe and Daryl Macon Bring the Game Home to Arkansas

By FAB44TV Insider

In a state built on basketball culture, few moments felt more full-circle than this one.

Fort Smith native and 2025 NBA Champion Isaiah Joe returned to Arkansas soil this summer alongside fellow Razorback legend Daryl Macon, a Little Rock product and former NBA pro now making waves overseas. Together, they hosted the Shooters Shoot Youth Camp and Top25 Elite Showcase a full day experience that became a masterclass in mentorship, high level development, and state pride.

About the Hosts:

  • Isaiah Joe: From Fort Smith Northside to Arkansas to the pros
  • and now a world champion with the Oklahoma City Thunder. In the 2024–25 NBA season, Joe was one of the league’s most efficient three-point shooters, averaging 9.8 PPG while shooting 41.4% from beyond the arc.
  • Daryl Macon: A back-to-back All-SEC honoree with the Razorbacks and former Dallas Mavericks/Miami Heat guard. Macon has gone on to play professionally in top-tier European leagues, bringing elite-level IQ and toughness to every camp stop.

Coaching Royalty in the Building

It wasn’t just the campers who took notes the coaching sidelines looked like an All-Star cast:

  • Coach Mike Abrahamson – The architect of Bryant’s 6A state title run, known for producing disciplined, physical teams built to win.
  • Coach Dexter Hendrix – The heartbeat of Benton basketball, fresh off leading the Panthers to a 5A state championshipin 2025.
  • Derrick Joe – Isaiah’s father and longtime mentor, who spoke candidly to campers about the work ethic, sacrifice, and off-the-court habits that helped shape his son’s path to the NBA.
  • Kevin Howard – Grambling State legend and former coach of both Isaiah Joe and Daryl Macon, served as the Lead Skills Instructor, bringing a master level blend of fundamentals, pace, and pro experience.
  • Antonio Buchanan – President of Basketball Operations for the Arkansas Hawks (Adidas 3SSB), Buchanan brought a national level lens to player development and talent evaluation.
  • Raymond Shaw – Head Coach at Southwest High School, Shaw added energy, leadership, and real-world insight to the gym helping sharpen both the players' skill sets and mindsets.

Vision Behind the Vibes

No elite Arkansas basketball event is complete without a touchpoint from Bill Ingram, the visionary behind Real Deal in the Rock and longtime director of the Arkansas Hawks. From grassroots grind to national exposure, Ingram has been a cornerstone in building one of the country’s most respected independent AAU brands.

Where Pro Meets Potential

Held at Summerwood Sports, one of Arkansas’ premier basketball facilities, the camp drew out not just the next wave of elite hoopers, but the seasoned minds that shaped championship culture in the Natural State.

On the court, it was star-studded:

  • Anthony Spratt – The freshman phenom who lit up the 5A state tournament and helped Benton secure the 2025 title.
  • Camarion Bead – A tough, two-way wing from Central Arkansas with a growing list of D1 interest.
  • Jacob Lanier – The cerebral PG with elite decision-making, fresh off a dominant summer circuit run.

  • Robert Young Jr. – The high-flying scorer who’s one of the top combo guards in the 2026 class.
  • Anthony Hester – Known for his motor and defense-first mentality, Hester made his presence felt in every drill.
  • Micah Moore – A sharpshooting guard with deep range and a natural feel for the game.
  • Next Up: Justin Peppers

Among all the top talent on the floor, one name echoed louder than most: Justin Peppers, a rising 8th-grade phenom whose blend of poise, vision, and pace turned heads all camp long.

Arkansas Hawks director Bill Ingram himself stamped Peppers as "one of the best up-and-coming players in the country.” His IQ is years ahead, his motor doesn’t stop, and his ceiling? Sky high.

The future isn't just bright, it's already in the gym.

“Shooters shoot ,but leaders lead.”

This was more than drills. It was more than highlight tapes.

It was an investment into the future of Arkansas basketball by two legends who never forgot where they came from. And judging by the talent on the floor, the next wave of Razorback greats may have just been in that gym watching, learning, and working.
