Coach Rickey Smith, the legendary leader of the Fort Smith Northside Lady Bears, has cemented his name among the state’s greatest. With a staggering 9 state championships and 14 total appearances in the title game—Coach Smith’s résumé speaks volumes. But beyond the numbers lies a culture. A legacy. A movement.

Championship Culture

Since taking the reins, Smith has created a model of excellence. Over 31 seasons at Northside (and 33 total years in coaching), his teams have compiled a mind-blowing 778–151 record at Northside and 826 total wins overall.

“We’ve had our share of battles,” Smith says. “But the expectations never change. We’re here to compete for championships—every year.”
